Nirj Deva has always regarded a close working relationship with the United States as essential for the peace and prosperity of Europe.  As Chairman of the Bow Group (a leading British political think-tank), he initiated the Transatlantic Conferences between the Conservative Party/Bow Group and the Republican Party/Heritage Foundation, which began in Washington in 1981.

He has personal friendships with many Members of Congress and other leading Americans.

As majority leader on the Development Committee of the European Parliament he works closely with the Head of the USAID office in Brussels to coordinate the overseas development work of the EU and the USA.
