Deva MEP Re-Elected |
Following
the European Parliament Elections held on June 10th, Nirj Deva has
been re-elected as Member of the European Parliament from South East
England.
Other Conservatives elected in the region include Daniel Hannan, MEP
for the region since 1999 and a Daily Telegraph journalist, James
Elles who has represented part of the region since 1984 and
livestock and arable farmer Richard Ashworth.
Speaking from the count in Didcot, Oxfordshire the MEP said:
“I cannot put into words my pride and delight at having been
returned as Member of the European Parliament for the South East of
England region.
”During the next five years I will continue to fight for the
interests of the region, holding back the tide of red tape and
regulation suffocating our businesses, protecting rural areas from
excessive building projects and cracking down on the fraud and
mismanagement which lies at the heart of the European Union.
