Nirj Deva,
Member of the European Parliament for South East England and Conservative
Spokesman for International Development and Co-operation today (Monday)
spoke of his “delight” at the capture of Saddam Hussein.
The MEP, who has been a long-standing foe of Saddam’s regime said:
”I am sure I share the delight of all my constituents at hearing of the
capture of this cruel, evil individual.
“Even though we have captured Saddam, we must not lose focus of the
important task we have to perform in Iraq, in transforming this brutalized
nation into a stable, democratic country where the views of the minority,
as well as the minority, are taken into account.
”In the weeks, months and years ahead, I intend to keep up the pressure in
the European Parliament to ensure that suitable levels of humanitarian aid
are available for reconstruction.
“We have won the battle. Now let’s win the war”.
